38-year-old Albanian Altin Sinomati, who is considered the mastermind behind the murder of Selavdi Shehaj, known by the nickname "Passerotto", has been arrested in Abu Dhabi.
The same person who killed "Passerotto" had also killed Fabrizio Piscitelli, known as "Diabolik", a year earlier, writes "La Repubblica".
The beach where the murder occurred is located just 100 meters from the home of journalist Sigfrido Ranucci, who was assassinated on October 16 of this year.
The investigations, carried out by the Carabinieri of the Rome investigative unit, the police and the SCO of the State Police, have produced a file against Sinomati.
Sinomati had given the order for Shehaj's murder by paying Raul Esteban Calderon the sum of 150,000 euros for committing the crime.
For this murder, Raul Esteban Calderon was sentenced to life imprisonment as the executioner, while Giuseppe Molisso was convicted of complicity in the crime.
Calderon is also serving a life sentence for the murder of Piscitelli.
Sinomat is also accused in another criminal case, where it is considered one of the main cocaine supply channels of the criminal organization operating in Rome, led by Giuseppe Molisso and Leandro Bennato. This organization was dismantled in a police operation on March 18, 2025.
After this operation and Calderon's arrest, Sinomati managed to escape arrest by fleeing to the United Arab Emirates, where he was captured and arrested ten days ago.
One of the investigation leads into the assassination attempt on journalist Ranucci is related to Albanian organized crime in the area, which is at the center of the "Report" show's investigations.
This crime is linked to the world of ultras fans and boss Michele Senese, involved in the wars between clans for control of drug trafficking in Rome and the coastal area.
Ranucci, in an interview with the newspaper "Repubblica", recalled the murder of "Passerotto" and reflected on the possibility of those who ordered the assassination of him.
"There are not many people who can commit such acts," the journalist said, emphasizing the role of Albanian organized crime in the area, linked to former drug addict and ultras Fabrizio Piscitelli, involved in many "Report" investigations.
