Police said the owner has critical wounds to his chest, caused by a knife.
A 30-year-old Albanian man has been arrested after being accused of stabbing and injuring the bar owner, who worked as a bartender, and his son, who worked as a waiter, during a fight at a bar over the weekend.
The incident took place at a Bar-Pasticceria "San Lorenzo", on Via Roma in Occhiobello.
The Albanian appeared in court yesterday, where the security measure of pre-trial detention was confirmed at the Rovigo Court, while he is accused of attempted murder on two occasions.
According to preliminary investigations, the waiter's father, who is also the owner of the bar where the incident occurred, was also seriously injured as he tried to protect his son from the attack.
Police said the owner has critical wounds to his chest, caused by a knife.
The suspect, under the influence of alcohol, demanded more service from the bar. After an argument and a refusal to serve him more alcoholic beverages, the father and son took the customer outside, where the argument escalated into a stabbing.
When officers arrived, responding to a 911 report, the perpetrator was found with the broken handle of the knife still in his hand, while the blade remained embedded in the body of the bar owner, who had been shot in the chest near the ribs.
The injured man was urgently taken to Rovigo Hospital and underwent surgery: his condition remains serious but not life-threatening.
During the intervention, the attacker continued to display violent behavior, even towards the police, making it necessary to immobilize him and then arrest him in flagrante delicto, Italian media reports.
In the end, the Albanian was arrested and locked up in solitary confinement.
