A domestic crime has been prevented in Italy, as after a constant quarrel between the couple, a 43-year-old Albanian man attempted to kill his wife by setting her on fire. The incident occurred on the evening of January 1 and was published today by Italian media.
The Carabinieri announced that they arrested the suspect of Albanian origin, accused of threatening and attempting to murder his wife. The rapid intervention of the law enforcement forces prevented the tragedy from happening.
The drama took place inside a house where the couple lived together. It is reported that the Albanian, after an argument, threatened to kill his wife and then doused her clothes and the kitchen floor with gasoline. His goal, according to the investigation, was to set his wife on fire.
However, the attempt to carry out his attack was stopped thanks to the courageous intervention of the couple's minor son, who, taking advantage of a moment of distraction, managed to hide the lighter from his father and buy time until the carabinieri arrived. The intervention prevented the worst.
Upon arriving at the scene, the carabinieri began their initial investigation and determined that the incident was not an isolated case.
Previous unreported acts of violence and threats against the woman emerged, confirming a long and ongoing escalation of abuse.
The Albanian, who had previously been violent towards the woman, was arrested in flagrante delicto and is awaiting the investigative and judicial process.
