Special Court

The Special Court sentences five defendants, while former officer Adriatik Logli is declared innocent

The Special Court Against Corruption and Organized Crime issued a verdict for several of the defendants involved in a case of drug cultivation and trafficking, following an operation that led to the arrest of over 40 people.

The jury acquitted former police officer Adriatik Logli, who was accused in the context of this investigation. Other police officers were also involved in the process, including Fejzo Meçaj, an officer at the Tepelena Police Station, suspected of abuse of office. During the investigation phase, the security measure "prison arrest" was imposed on them.

The court sentenced Xhuliano Aliu to 5 years in prison and Kristi Dautaj to 8 years in prison. In a separate hearing, it also ruled on three other defendants. Bujar Brahak received 10 years in prison, while Hertjan Pjetërgjokaj and Elton Ukaj were sentenced to 8 years each. The latter two received a one-third reduction in sentence due to the shortened trial.

According to SPAK's investigations, the case includes 13 suspected episodes of production, sale and trafficking of narcotics, as well as cultivation of narcotic plants in several regions of the country, including Vlora, Tepelena, Durrës, Tirana and Lezha. The prosecution has identified five different groups that are suspected of operating during the period from March to November 2020.

The verdicts for the other defendants in these proceedings were given in separate sessions.
