The Special Court has confirmed the security measure "prison arrest" for Moisi Habilaj, accused of drug trafficking and participation in a structured criminal group.
During the court session, Habilaj did not give any statement before Judge Elsa Ulliri. At the end of the hearing, the court decided to leave in force the decision previously given by the former Serious Crimes Court.
The security measure against him was imposed on December 26, 2018 for the criminal offenses "Production and sale of narcotics", "Trafficking in narcotics", committed in collaboration in the form of a structured criminal group, as well as "Structured criminal group".
Moisi Habilaj is one of the most well-known names in international drug trafficking cases. On January 23 of this year, the Special Court found him guilty and sentenced him to 10 years in prison.
In addition to the sentence in Albania, Habilaj has also been sentenced by Italian justice to over 12 years in prison for participating in an armed criminal organization for the purpose of drug trafficking.
According to investigations, he led a criminal group that operated in drug trafficking between Albania and Italy.
With the latest decision of the GJKKO, the "prison arrest" measure against Moisi Habilaj remains in force.
