Andrea Gjini alias Andrea Kuqja has been arrested.
The State Police have arrested in Belsh a 61-year-old man who was declared an international wanted man, sentenced by Italian justice to over 15 years in prison.
According to the police, Andrea Gjini alias Andrea Kuqja, 61 years old, resident of Belsh, was arrested.
He was declared an international wanted person after the Court of Lucca in Italy, in 2016, sentenced him to 15 years, 9 months and 18 days in prison for the criminal offenses of "Exploitation of prostitution", "Trafficking in narcotics" and "Injury", as provided for by the Italian Criminal Code.
The 61-year-old is expected to be extradited to the neighboring country.
"Another phase of the police operation codenamed "Operacionalja" is being finalized by the Directorate of the Special Operational Force at the Criminal Police Department, for the capture of internationally wanted persons.
An internationally wanted citizen, sentenced in Italy to over 15 years in prison for the criminal offenses of "Exploitation of prostitution", "Drug trafficking" and "Injury", is being arrested.
Following the successive operations conducted by the Directorate of the Special Operational Force, based on information obtained operationally, the 86th phase of the police operation codenamed "Operacionalja" was finalized.
As part of this operation, in Belsh, the services of the Special Operational Force Directorate of the Criminal Police Department were able to locate, identify and arrest citizen Andrea Gjini alias Andrea Kuqja, 61 years old, resident of Belsh.
This citizen was declared internationally wanted after the Court of Lucca (Italy), in 2016, sentenced him to 15 years, 9 months and 18 days in prison for the criminal offenses "Exploitation of prostitution", "Trafficking in narcotics" and "Injury", provided for by the Italian Criminal Code. The provisional arrest of this citizen was carried out with the aim of extradition to Italy," the police statement said.
