An incident was recorded on Monday morning at the offices of the EFKA social security institution on Piraeus Street, in the Omonia area of Athens, after a 61-year-old Albanian man entered the institution's premises and threatened employees with a knife.
According to Greek media, the incident occurred at around 08:40, when the 61-year-old, of Albanian origin, entered the EFKA offices and began threatening staff while holding a knife.
Police officers immediately intervened at the scene, managing to neutralize and arrest the perpetrator without any injuries being reported.
During the physical search of the suspect, police discovered that he was also carrying a kitchen knife. Greek authorities have launched investigations to clarify the circumstances and motives of the incident.
