Police have arrested three people suspected of involvement in the trafficking of immigrants from third countries to European Union countries.

According to the police, citizens Hysni Stërmungu, 28 years old, Helidon Dhima, 43 years old, and Hassan Mobin, 28 years old, were arrested.

According to police, Hysni Stërmungu and Helidon Dhima were caught red-handed near the Rinas roundabout while transporting five migrants in a vehicle. It is suspected that they had promised them passage to Italy in exchange for a payment of 2,500 euros per person.

Preliminary investigations indicate that citizen Hassan Mobin is suspected of being involved in organizing and gathering migrants before their transportation.

"Two citizens who were caught transporting immigrants who intended to illegally cross into EU countries, for payment, are arrested. A foreign citizen who was involved in organizing and gathering immigrants is also in custody. The vehicle in which the immigrants were transported is seized."

Following the successive crackdowns on criminal activity in the field of smuggling immigrants from third countries to EU countries, specialists from the Illicit Trafficking Section in cooperation with the Operational Force at the Tirana Police Department cracked another case, arresting the following citizens: HS, 28 years old, H. Dh., 43 years old and HM, 28 years old.

Citizens HS and H. Dh. were caught red-handed by the Police services, at the Rinas roundabout, transporting 5 immigrants in a vehicle, to whom, in return for a payment of 2,500 euros each, they had been promised transportation to the final destination of the Italian state.

Meanwhile, the investigation suspects that citizen HM was involved in organizing and gathering immigrants.

"In cooperation with the Prosecution, the investigation continues to identify and bring to criminal responsibility other citizens who may have been involved in this case. The procedural materials were referred to the Tirana Prosecution for further action," the police announced.
