The director of Rrogozhina Prison, Bilal Hasa, who was found to have an environment suitable for the cultivation of cannabis, has surrendered to the police. It is learned that Hasa surrendered himself to the police authorities, after he had previously been declared wanted as part of the investigations.
Hasa has denied any involvement in the illegal activity, stating that he has no connection to the cultivation of narcotic plants discovered in the warehouse. He claimed that he has not frequented the facility in question for several months and was unaware of the activity that may have taken place there.
Meanwhile, the investigations have also opened up other leads. An official police source says that they are verifying the possibility that the illegal connection of electricity to the warehouse premises was carried out by Hasa's brother, who lives in the area.
According to the announcement of the General Directorate of the State Police, the "Kurtaj" operation was carried out by the Directorate for Large-Scale Crimes, in cooperation with the Elbasan DVP and the Peqin Police Commissariat, under the direction of the Elbasan Prosecutor's Office.
During inspections in a warehouse, in the basement, two environments specially adapted for the cultivation of cannabis in closed conditions using artificial lighting were discovered. In total, around 4,000 narcotic plants were identified.
Police also seized a significant amount of electrical equipment, including bulbs, neon lights, and other systems that were suspected of being used to keep the illegal activity running.
From the first investigative actions, it results that the object is owned by Bilal Hasa, which initially led to his being declared wanted.
Within the same operation, for the criminal offense of "Abuse of office", another citizen with the initials EM, head of OSHEE for the Peqin area, has been declared wanted.
Investigations continue under the direction of the Elbasan Prosecutor's Office, while authorities aim to fully uncover the cultivation scheme and identify all persons involved in this criminal activity.
