Tirana police and engineering forces searched the parking lot of a luxury hotel in the center of the capital for more than two hours after a call had reported the placement of explosives.
The anonymous call reached a hotel employee, informing her of a bomb in the building's parking lot.
Police arrived at the scene and evacuated the citizens who were inside.
A search of the building found nothing suspicious and the police concluded that it was a false alarm.
"Around 19:35, a staff member of a hotel on "Abdi Toptani" Street called the Tirana DVP Operations Room, claiming that someone unknown had informed her about the placement of a quantity of explosives in the parking lot of this hotel. Immediately, numerous police forces went to the scene, who surrounded the area and evacuated the hotel's people. Engineer forces were also notified to control and verify the information," the police announced.
After verification, it turned out that the alarm was false.
"Following the previous warning, which referred to a phone call that a quantity of explosives had been placed in the parking lot of a hotel on "Abdi Toptani" Street, we inform you that during the inspection by the Police services in cooperation with the engineering forces, they did not find anything illegal."
