
A 23-year-old Albanian man was arrested on the Italian-Swiss border while trafficking 9 kg of cocaine, hidden in the vehicle he was traveling in.
The Albanian was apprehended by Swiss customs at the San Pietro di Stabio border crossing.
The arrest was announced by the Attorney General's Office, the cantonal police and the Swiss Federal Office for Customs and Border Security (UDSC).
The arrested young man, an Albanian citizen residing in Germany, was driving a car leaving Switzerland.
A search of the vehicle by UDSC officers led to the discovery of approximately 9 kg of raw cocaine. The 23-year-old was questioned and subsequently arrested by cantonal police officers.
The criminal charge against him is a serious violation of the Federal Narcotics Act. The investigation is being coordinated by Public Prosecutor Petra Canonica Alexakis.
