GJKKO has accepted the request of Erzen Breçan's lawyers to conduct a medical examination, as they claim that he has heart problems and that staying in the detention cell endangers his life.
The next session was postponed to Friday, where the two doctors who will perform the expert examination will appear.
Breçan's lawyers request a change in the security measure due to his health condition. Meanwhile, Breçan has been admitted to the prison hospital for several days.
The arrest of Breçan
Brecani was arrested last November 21, 2023 on charges of money laundering and supporting the perpetrator of the crime.
The crackdown on the SKY ECC app led to the crackdown on a criminal group on November 21. The group is accused of being involved in drug trafficking from Latin America to Europe, as well as in criminal events in Albania, part of which are suspected to be police officials and former officials.
Brecan's connections with a criminal group?
Out of 11 people for whom arrest warrants were issued, 5 of them were exonerated, while the others turn out to be outside of Albania. The former deputy director of the Tirana Police, Erzen Breçani , was arrested as suspected members of this group ; Chief of Crimes at Police Station number 6, Dedan Gjoni and Bujar Germizi, a well-known name in the world of crime in Kukësi.
Eralbi Breçani, son of Erzen Breçani, businessman Ervin Mata, brother of Eralbi Breçani's wife, are wanted; Albert Prenga; Ismail Zeneli; Bajram Grabova and Artan Sulejmani.
According to SPAK, the criminal group is suspected to be related to several episodes of the seizure of narcotics trafficking in the Netherlands, Brazil, Colombia, Spain as well as other Latin American countries towards the countries of the European Union, as well as providing the conditions for the murder of two citizens in Albania as well as cases of money laundering.
In the SPAK announcement, it is emphasized that members of the criminal group are responsible for 4 attempts to traffic more than 900 kg of cocaine and marijuana in different countries of Europe. While the money earned from criminal activity was then laundered in Albania.
These are the operations where quantities of drugs trafficked by members of this criminal group were seized:
Seizure of 446 kg of cocaine in the Netherlands on 05.01.2021;
Seizure of 69 kg of cocaine in Brazil on 18.02.2021;
Seizure of 166 kg of marijuana in Erëitte, sent from Spain to Germany;
Seizure of a quantity of 250 kg of the narcotic substance cocaine, sent from Brazil to the airport of Frankfurt am Main, Germany;

- Cleaning the products of the criminal offense or criminal activity
