The police discovered that Gëzim Çela and his group, assisted by the chief of the Kurbini police station, Dritan Metaj, trafficked cannabis from the area of Fushë Kuqe towards the Adriatic Sea, where he exchanged the cannabis for cocaine in a boat.
In this period, a case of cocaine trafficking that was to be exchanged for a quantity of narcotics was discovered and documented, in what is known as the "Flame at Sea" operation.
After the operation, the citizen Gëzim Çela, otherwise known as the "Drug Baron", was also declared wanted. He was arrested in December 2023 in Kosovo, while only a few days ago, by order of SPAK, some assets believed to have been raised from criminal sources were seized.
