Bus driver arrested in Kapshtica for smuggling clothes worth 100 thousand euros

A bus driver identified as Niko Zekolli has been arrested by the Kapshtica border police after smuggling clothing from Greece to Albania.

According to the police, during the search conducted on the 54-year-old's bus, the officers found that the clothing was not accompanied by purchase receipts.

The clothes, worth around 100 thousand euros, were seized as material evidence.

"Following systematic checks and those based on police information received on operational routes, the services of the Korça DVKM, at the entrance to the Republic of Albania, at the Kapshtica checkpoint, passed for a second line check the bus with the driver, citizen NZ, 54 years old, resident of the village of Nevičisht, Korça.

During the inspection, clothing suspected of being smuggled from Greece was found in the bus that this citizen was driving, as they were not equipped with purchase receipts.

Following the procedural actions, the NZ citizen, 54 years old, was arrested in flagrante delicto for the criminal offense of "Smuggling of other goods. The procedural materials were referred to the Korça Prosecutor's Office for further actions", the police announced today.
