Italian police have arrested a 24-year-old Albanian in the city of Vittorio Veneto in the province of Treviso, after it was discovered that he had adapted the apartment where he lived for the processing and distribution of cocaine.
During the search of the apartment, law enforcement found about 1 kilogram of cocaine, precision scales, packaging materials and 36 thousand euros in cash in banknotes of various denominations. The bedroom had been used for dividing and packaging the doses, turning the apartment into a small drug laboratory.
According to investigations, the 24-year-old was supplying and distributing significant amounts of cocaine to clients with high purchasing power.
The Carabinieri detected frequent movements and distribution of large quantities of cocaine, which led to the intensification of checks and surveillance in the frequented nightlife areas near the Piave River.
Authorities kept the suspect under surveillance and wiretapping to document his activity, contacts and client network. The arrest was made on Friday morning, while the court confirmed the security measure the following day.
The court imposed house arrest on the 24-year-old Albanian, who will remain under this regime pending the completion of the investigation and court process.
