The Albanian criminal organization of what is considered the "first Albanian drug trafficking cartel" led by Franc Çopja and Ervis Çela turns out to have circulated millions of euros profited from criminal activity.

In the voluminous 282-page file that A2CNN has at its disposal, what is noticeable is that members of this organization are suspected of transporting quantities of cocaine across the sea route using specially purchased private planes.

During a conversation in December 2020 conducted on the Sky Ecc app, suspicions are raised that Ervis Çela has shipped an amount of about 8 tons of cocaine and has purchased a small plane which he uses to transport narcotics directly from the production site to his warehouses.

"Are you serious, you bought a plane??? Ahahaha, higher and higher, my heart will see you, my heart will rejoice," the file says.

The millions of euros earned from cocaine trafficking were brought to Albania mainly by passenger transport lines. The huge profits, which amounted to tens of millions of euros, were invested in properties and businesses in our country and other European countries.

The money was delivered in closed places, mainly in garages, where the traffickers, according to intercepted conversations, stated that it was a safer place than delivering it on the street. The file also mentions an episode when the amount of 595 thousand euros was delivered in Albania.

Part of the money was buried in our country, as were quantities of drugs buried by traffickers outside Albanian territory and released on the market at more opportune times.

In another conversation between the two leaders of the group, Ervis Çela and Franc Çopja, they discuss hiding money under the roots of olive trees in Albania.

Çela wrote that he owned 200 olive trees and planned to dig a hole for each of them, but Çopja was more cautious and advised him to turn the money into gold bars, as money buried in the ground risked being damaged.

In another conversation in February 2021, Franc Çopja stated that they “didn't know where to take the money” and that they would convert it into gold, mentioning amounts of up to 1000 kg of gold. From the communications, it is suspected that the criminal group has also collaborated with a Brazilian citizen and in one case has also trafficked firearms.

The voluminous file states that Ervis Çela was the main person collaborating with citizens from Brazil, Paraguay and other Latin American countries, with influence over the ports of embarkation in those countries.

Once the narcotics were secured, they were then camouflaged with legal products such as exotic fruits, grains, minerals, industrial and agricultural products.

The criminal organization was hit a few days ago by SPAK, in cooperation with Europol and other European law enforcement agencies. Its members were discovered by dismantling the Sky Ecc application, where investigators have in their hands numerous interceptions, photos of quantities of drugs, money, but also of meetings held by traffickers among themselves.

SPAK issued a total of 15 arrest warrants, 6 of whom are still wanted. Franc Çopja, also known as Franc Gergely, was previously arrested in Belgium. While a month ago, Ervis Çela was arrested in Himara for another criminal case, on charges of murder.

The focus of the investigations in this case are two large shipments. 11.6 tons of cocaine transported from Paraguay to Belgium, and another 16.4 tons from Paraguay to Germany, in Hamburg. /A2Cnn/
