The rape and hostage-taking of Ilir Topçiu has shaken the Korça Police.
After the event in Devoll, where Ilir Topçiu was kidnapped and raped for several hours, the State Police has taken disciplinary measures against local leaders.
The director of the Korça Police, Erion Ahmeti, has been dismissed from his post and the deputy director for Criminal Investigation, Hajri Kushe, has been suspended.
The police announce that Ahmeti has not fulfilled his legal obligations and has not properly managed the situation regarding the incident.
A disciplinary investigation has also been launched for the entire leadership chain of the Korça Police and the Devoll Police Station.
In place of Ahmeti, Islor Islami, who previously headed the Border Police in Kukës, has been temporarily appointed.
We recall that part of the 3 kidnappers who took 32-year-old Topçiu hostage for several hours was Bledion Nallbati's brother, Alti Nallbati.
Alti Nallbati, the brother of MP Bledion Nallbati, Marsel Buci and Trajan Çeliku have been placed in handcuffs.
"Taking as a trigger the recent incident in Devoll, where a 32-year-old man was forcibly taken from his apartment, for weak motives, held for several hours, and physical violence was inflicted on him and his life was threatened, and after an analysis conducted regarding the actions and management of the situation, it resulted that the leadership chain of the Korça DVP has not fulfilled its legal obligations and has not properly managed the situation, bringing consequences to the image of the Police in the community.
Regarding the above, the General Director of the State Police, Major General Ilir Proda, has decided:
The dismissal of the Director of the Korça Local Police Directorate, Chief Erion Ahmeti.
Suspension from duty of the Deputy Director for Criminal Investigation at the Korça Police Department, Director Hajri Kushe, until the conclusion of the disciplinary investigation.
Meanwhile, the Directorate of Professional Standards at the General Directorate of the State Police, by order of the General Director, based on Article 121 of the Law on the State Police, has launched a disciplinary investigation into the entire management chain of the Korça Local Police Directorate and the Devoll Police Commissariat, for failure to fulfill duties which have brought serious consequences.
By order of the General Director of the State Police, until the conclusion of the competition for Local Director, Director Islor Islami, who until today held the position of Director of the Local Directorate for Border and Migration in Kukës, has been temporarily appointed to the position of Director of the Korça Local Police Directorate.
The State Police assures citizens that it responsibly analyzes every case of professional inaction and in accordance with the law by its employees, taking punitive measures based on the Law "On the State Police" and the Police Regulation .
