Three Albanians residing in Mantova were arrested on Tuesday, April 21, for drug trafficking by the Italian police of Treviso and Mantova, in an operation coordinated by the Treviso Prosecutor's Office.
Over 150 kilograms of cocaine were seized during the operation. The first to be arrested, in the Treviso area, was a 48-year-old Albanian, in whose vehicle 20 kilograms of cocaine and about half a kilogram of cannabis were found, hidden in a compartment that opened with an electromagnetic mechanism under the front seats.
Investigations by agents, who had followed the drug trafficking activity, subsequently led to the identification and tracking of two other individuals, residents of Mantova. A search of the homes of SE, 31, and KM, 34, both Albanians, revealed 122 more packages of cocaine under the 31-year-old's bed, bringing the total amount to around 150 kilograms. Around 55,000 euros in cash were also seized.
The police also searched the vehicles of the two arrested, where they found that both had special hidden compartments for transporting drugs.
The arrests in Mantova are linked to a previous investigation, which led to the arrest on April 3 of a citizen with the initials DA near the San Trovaso di Preganziol train station, in Treviso. Six packages containing about 7 kilograms of cocaine were found in the trunk of his car. He is currently in custody in the Treviso prison.
