Italian authorities have dismantled a criminal group suspected of a series of thefts in the Campania and Lazio regions.
During the operation, four Albanian citizens were arrested and six police officers were injured.
The operation took place in the Cesa and San Marcellino areas, under the direction of the Santa Maria Capua Vetere Prosecutor's Office in Caserta. Around 100 police officers participated in the field.
During the execution of arrest warrants, a person jumped from the first floor of a building onto police forces, injuring five of them. The person is suspected of acting to aid the escape of a relative, while his position is being reviewed by the prosecution.
Another officer was injured during a clash with one of the arrested, who will also face charges of resisting law enforcement.
During the searches, police seized around 100,000 euros in cash, a luxury vehicle, gold and jewelry worth an estimated 1 million euros, and two automatic pistols. They also found forged license plates, which were suspected of being used for robberies and high-speed getaways.
According to the investigation, the arrested individuals operated in an organized manner, with separate roles and regular schedules. They committed quick thefts, often in the presence of the homeowners, and changed vehicles to avoid detection. The group is suspected of committing dozens of thefts within a few months, starting at the end of last year.
The investigation began after a theft in San Leucio and gradually expanded to several provinces of southern Italy, including Frosinone.
Authorities are continuing legal proceedings against those arrested and are working to identify the owners of the seized items, with the aim of returning them after verifying the cases of theft.
