Former MP Koçi Tahiri has passed away at the age of 77 after a long battle with cancer.
Tahiri was born in 1949 and became involved in parliamentary life in 2018. He received the mandate of a deputy in the Assembly during the period 2018–2021, at a time when deputies from the Democratic Party and the Socialist Movement for Integration handed over their mandates.
In addition to his parliamentary activity, Tahiri was engaged for years in the social life of the Gora area and the Maliq Municipality. He headed the association "Besëlidhja Gorare", where he worked to preserve traditions and strengthen ties within the Gorari community.
Institutions and representatives of public life previously honored him with several titles for his contribution. Former President Bujar Nishani awarded him the "Torch of Democracy" award, while the Municipality of Maliq awarded him the title "Pride of the Municipality of Maliq".
