A 28-year-old man has been arrested in Durrës, after being declared internationally wanted by Spain for organized criminal group and drug trafficking.
Ilirjan Mici was handcuffed inside his apartment in the village of Likmetaj, Durrës, with the aim of extradition to Spain.
According to the police, the young man was declared an international wanted person after the Court of Madrid, Spain, with a decision dated December 28, 2023, assigned him the security measure of "prison arrest", for the criminal offenses of "criminal organization", "drug trafficking" and "laundering the proceeds of a criminal offense", according to the Spanish Criminal Code. For these offenses, the maximum penalty provided is 26 years in prison.
Interpol Tirana and Interpol Madrid will carry out the procedures for the extradition of this citizen to Spain.
"Durrës/The police operation codenamed "Ghots" is finalized, for the capture of an internationally wanted citizen.
Accused by Spanish authorities of being a member of a criminal organization that trafficked narcotics, the 28-year-old was captured in Durrës and arrested for extradition purposes.
As a result of the checks carried out based on information provided by police intelligence, regarding the location of a citizen on international wanted list, the Operational Services of the Durrës Local Police Directorate, in cooperation with the Narcotics Investigation Section, have organized and finalized the police operation codenamed "Ghost".
During this operation, citizen IM, 28 years old, resident of the village of Likmetaj, Durrës, was captured in Durrës and arrested with the aim of extradition to Spain.
This citizen was declared internationally wanted after the Court of Madrid, Spain, with the decision dated 28.12.2023, assigned him the security measure "Arrest in prison", for the criminal offenses "Criminal organization", "Drug trafficking" and "Laundering of proceeds of crime", according to the Spanish Criminal Code. For these offenses, the maximum penalty provided is 26 years of imprisonment.
"Interpol Tirana and Interpol Madrid will carry out the procedures for the extradition of this citizen to Spain," the police announced.
