A 46-year-old man internationally wanted for sexual assault has been arrested in Tropoja.
Vladimir Rama, a resident of the village of Fierzë, was declared an international wanted person after the Court of Appeal of Trieste, Italy, sentenced him to 6 years in prison for the criminal offense of "Forced sexual intercourse".
After his capture, Albanian authorities have initiated procedures for his extradition to Italy, in accordance with the international agreement on cooperation in criminal matters.
"The services of the Tropoja Police Commissariat, in continuation of the work to locate and capture citizens declared nationally and internationally wanted, based on information obtained through operational channels, organized and finalized the police operation coded "Alert", as a result of which the citizen was captured and arrested with the aim of extradition to Italy:
Vladimir Rama, 46 years old, resident of the village of Fierzë, Tropojë.
This citizen was declared internationally wanted after the Court of Appeal of Trieste, Italy, sentenced him to 6 years in prison for the criminal offense of "Forced sexual intercourse".
"Interpol Tirana will carry out the procedures in cooperation with Interpol Rome, for the extradition of this citizen to Italy," the police announced.
