A 35-year-old man accused of attempted murder has been arrested in Greece after being declared internationally wanted by Albanian authorities.
He is accused of allegedly shooting a person with a firearm in May 2021, who was injured as a result, an incident that occurred in Poshnje, Berat.
The Berat Judicial District Court, in 2021, assigned the security measure "Arrest in prison" for the criminal offenses of "Intentional Murder", attempted murder, and "Unlicensed Possession and Production of Weapons, Explosive Weapons and Ammunition".
The 35-year-old has been arrested by Greek authorities, with the aim of extradition to Albania.
"Intensive cooperation with partners continues for the localization, capture and arrest for the purpose of extradition of citizens declared internationally wanted."
As a result of this cooperation, another phase of the international operation "The Wanted" has been finalized.
Thanks to the information provided by the Criminal Police Department of the State Police and the exchange with the Greek Police, through Interpol Tirana, it became possible to arrest in Greece, with the aim of extradition to Albania, the Albanian citizen F. Sh., 35 years old, born in Berat.
This citizen was declared internationally wanted by Interpol Tirana, after the Berat Judicial District Court, in 2021, assigned him the security measure "Arrest in prison", for the criminal offenses of "Intentional Murder", attempted murder and "Unauthorized possession and production of weapons, explosive weapons and ammunition".
In May 2021, in Poshnje, Berat, citizen F. Sh. is suspected of having fired a firearm at citizen II, who was injured as a result.
Interpol Tirana continues its cooperation with Interpol Athens, to finalize the extradition procedures of citizen F. Sh., to Albania.
"The State Police, in cooperation with international partners, continues to work intensively to locate and capture citizens declared internationally wanted," the police announced.
