He was sentenced on 24.06.2009, by the Athens Court of Appeal, with a total sentence of 22 years and 9 months of imprisonment, for the criminal offense of "Theft in cooperation". Also, he was convicted by the 2nd Five-Member Court of Appeal in Athens on 27.04.2012, with 14 years of imprisonment, for the criminal offenses "Special cases of theft, committed and attempted" and "Cooperation in money laundering from criminal activity" ” as well as by the Single Member Court of Athens in 2017 with 19 months in prison for “serious injury in cooperation, “carrying weapons without a permit”, “use of weapons” and “unreasonable shooting”.
There are also 3 arrest warrants against him from the Prosecutor's Office of Athens in 2014 and 2015 for "robbery" and from the Prosecutor's Office of Piraeus in 2015 for "robbery in collaboration".
After many months of intensive investigation, collection, analysis and cross-checking of information, as well as intensive searches in different parts of Athens, in the morning hours of Saturday, in Elefsina, in the National Resistance Square. Albanian citizen Aleksandër Marku, 48 years old, was located and captured.
During the detention he presented legal documents, with identification data under the name Ernesto Nesto, 48 years old. The authenticity of these documents that the arrested person has is being examined by the Greek police, while communication with the Albanian authorities is expected to verify his credentials.
According to the Greek police, Aleksandër Marku did not exercise any professional activity and made a living exclusively from the illegal financial gain that benefited from his criminal activity. After escaping from prison, he continued his criminal activity with greater intensity, either alone or in collaboration with his compatriots, developing diverse activities. From the procedural documents and the police file, it appears that Mark was a member of a structured and continuously active criminal organization, consisting of at least other Albanians, who committed the crimes of robbery, attempted murder and distinct cases of theft. with different compositions each time, in different regions of Athens. To achieve their goal, they had bought guns, hats, gloves and burglary tools.
According to the Greek police, Aleksandër Marku is a particularly violent person with antisocial behavior and during the commission of his criminal acts he showed cruelty and particularly brutal behavior towards his victims and poses a risk to public safety and social cohesion.
According to the latest information, Marku stayed for a while in Albania, where he changed his name and returned to Greece, continuing his criminal activity.
