Other details have emerged from the crime that occurred in Canada, where 29-year-old Albanian Savannah Kulla was executed in a parking lot in Brampton.
The media has published the testimony of the victim's mother, Karen Kulla. According to her, Savannah Kulla, went to meet 38-year-old Anthony Deschepper after he agreed to let her spend a few hours with their 17-month-old daughter. Karen said her daughter was a mother of four.
During their meeting, Karen said that Savannah was shot and killed.
"I just can't believe she's gone," Karen said, adding, "She was so beautiful, so beautiful. She usually stuck to things, she was smart and beautiful and we loved her very much."
On Tuesday, at approximately 2 p.m., Peel Regional Police responded to reports that a woman had been shot in the parking lot of a shopping mall in the area of Airport Road and Queen Street East in Brampton. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
Karen said her daughter and Deschepper were previously in a relationship but had broken up a few months ago.
"She told me, about a month ago, 'if I stay with him, he'll kill me,'" Karen said. She then recounted the moment she learned of her daughter's death.
"A police officer came to my apartment and told me that my daughter was dead. I don't know what I did. I probably screamed, I don't even remember. She's the youngest of my three children. I love her very much. I can't imagine life without her," Karen says.
The victim's mother claims police told her the fatal shooting came after a dispute over a diaper bag.
"From what I heard, he said to her, 'I need the diaper bag.' She said, 'I'll get it.' He said, 'You forgot the damn diaper bag,' and then all I heard was three gunshots," Karen claims.
According to Global News, the perpetrator, who was executed by police in an attempt to arrest him, was wanted in 2023 for firearms-related offenses after being accused of shooting at a residence in Brampton.
A warrant was issued for his arrest and he was arrested a few weeks later by Waterloo Regional Police. Those charges were still in court with a trial date set for 2026. He had been released on bail pending that trial.
Karen said she asked Savannah if Deschepper had a gun.
"I said, 'Promise me he doesn't have a gun. No, Mom, I swear he doesn't have a gun, he doesn't have a gun anymore.' I know, that was stupid," the 29-year-old's mother said.
Next, Karen reveals that Deschepper bothered her on the phone, so much so that Savannah even changed her number.
"He drove her crazy on the phone. She changed her number, but he found it and called her again, probably 50, 60, 70 times a day. And sometimes she would talk to him, but he would say 'stay away from me, leave me alone,'" Karen says.
