Two Albanians, who were arrested by the British authorities growing cannabis in a flat in the Windsor area, have been sentenced to two years in prison each.
Albanians Amarild Nezha and Gridi Fatia were living illegally in Britain and were arrested in the act while they were looking after a 10-room flat in the Berkshire region.
Police inside the flat discovered 276 plants with a street value of £200,000, but the prosecutor in the case explained that the criminal enterprise in a year could generate profits of up to £800,000.
Nezha and Fatia had paid several thousand pounds to go to Great Britain and had worked as a baker and in construction, until the moment when they were sent by traffickers to work as "gardeners".
The judge at Reading Crown Court, after hearing the charges and the defense, sentenced the two Albanians to 24 months in prison.
"Given the nature of your status in this country, it is likely that at some point you will be deported ," she told the defendants.
