Shocking details have emerged regarding the story of Xhuana Nikolli, the young woman who ended her life by consuming photoxine, following the violence she allegedly experienced from her ex-husband, Eraldo.
According to family members' account for "Në Shënjestër", Xhuana had decided to live in a rented apartment in Tirana with a friend, after leaving her city in November. On the evening between March 9 and 10, she consumed a photoxine tablet in the apartment where she lived.
The first to find her in serious condition was the owner of the house, after being notified by Xhuana's sister, who was unable to contact her.
"The sister in Tirana called Xhuana but she didn't answer. Then the lady of the house went and saw her in that condition. They called the ambulance, the doctor said she came with a very low pulse...", confessed Marjana, the victim's sister.
Although she was urgently transported to the "Mother Teresa" University Hospital, the young woman could not survive the severe poisoning.
Family members say that Juana had left a letter before the extreme act, where she spoke about the violence she had experienced.
"Mom, Dad, I didn't beat you. I didn't do anything to deserve this. He beat me so much that I can't stand this kind of violence anymore. I love you so much, don't cry," she wrote in her farewell letter.
According to her sister, forensic expertise confirmed signs of violence on Xhuana's body.
"On the face, on the body, her torn sweatshirt. We knew that there was only psychological violence, pressure like 'you're not worth it, you'll never have a peaceful life without me'. No physical violence. Physical violence only on the night that Xhuana gave her life," she said, adding that until that night the family was only aware of psychological violence and constant pressure.
According to family members, the letter left by Xhuana suggests that she was faced not only with physical violence, but also with constant psychological pressure, which may have led her to make a fatal decision.
