The appeal of the GJKKO has upheld the two-year prison sentence for the former Mayor of Himara, Jorgo Goro, investigated and accused by SPAK for the alienation of a land area in the Livadha area.
The investigation against Goro began with a complaint from Fredi Beleri, according to which he donated 4,263 meters of land to his appointed successor at the head of the Municipality, Arqile Bollano, in 2016.
The Criminal Court sentenced Goro to 2 years in prison in July 2025, but due to the summary trial, he received a 1/3 reduction in sentence. Goro has also been banned from holding public office for 5 years.
The case for which Jorgo Goro was convicted is related to the case against former MP Artan Gaçi and former minister Olta Xhaçka. Goro, through false documents, paved the way for the registration of a state-owned agricultural land in favor of Stavri Mëhilli. After this procedure, the land was sold to a private company represented by former MP Artan Gaçi, Olta Xhaçka's husband.
In total, it is estimated that about 10 thousand m2 of alienated land in 2 different areas, for which the GJKKO decided to confiscate on behalf of the state. The court also confiscated the apartment of about 81 m2, which is suspected to be a hidden property of the former mayor of Himara.
