A 38-year-old Albanian man was sentenced to four years in prison for 72 robberies and attempted robberies, between July 2019 and December 2024, across France. Ilir Dodaj had become the terror of residents in several areas of France.
According to French media, he had organized and carried out dozens of robberies, causing considerable damage.
Prosecutors said he was a 'professional thief.' Dodaj was arrested on December 24, 2024 in Belgium, as he was preparing to fly to Tirana, the capital of Albania, following a European arrest warrant issued by the investigating judge.
French authorities have announced that the criminal activity was spread across several areas and that the convict had committed numerous thefts over a long period of time, until he was arrested and brought to justice.
After reviewing the file, the court imposed a sentence of 4 years in prison, considering the large number of criminal offenses and their repetition in several regions of the country as serious.
This is another case handled by French justice as part of the fight against theft and organized crime, where authorities are tightening measures against perpetrators of criminal acts.
