Roven Zeka, the chief of Tirana's Traffic Police, was arrested on Saturday afternoon, by order of SPAK, along with Edison Tabaku, an officer of the Judicial Police, and Sokol Novaku, the head of the Accidents Sector.
But how did the senior State Police official fall into SPAK's net?
News24 journalist Klodiana Lala has revealed details from the operation.
More specifically, according to the journalist, a woman was involved in an accident and her husband entered into communications with traffic officials.
Lala, citing sources, states that he was being wiretapped by the Special Prosecution Office for another case. The wiretaps revealed that money was offered to close the case in favor of the woman.
SPAK has issued arrest warrants for the head of the Road Traffic Department in Tirana, Roven Zeka, as well as for two other police officers.
All three are suspected of corruption, as there are suspicions that they took money from a woman for an accident.
