A 43-year-old man, internationally wanted as a member of a criminal organization, has been arrested in Kavaja.
43-year-old Ervin Balliu was wanted by Italian authorities after a 7-year prison sentence by the Turin Court of Appeal.
He was involved in a criminal organization that dealt in narcotics trafficking.
"The police operation codenamed "Seven" is being finalized, for the capture of an internationally wanted citizen.
Sentenced by Italian authorities to 7 years in prison as a member of a criminal organization that trafficked narcotics, the 43-year-old is captured and arrested for extradition purposes.
As a result of the checks carried out based on information provided by police intelligence, regarding the location of a citizen on international wanted list, the Operational Services of the Durrës Local Police Directorate and the Kavajë Police Commissariat have organized and finalized the police operation codenamed "Seven".
During this operation, citizen Ervin Balliu, 43 years old, resident of the village of Gosë, Rrogozhinë, was captured and arrested for extradition purposes.
This citizen was declared internationally wanted after the Court of Appeal of Turin, Italy, with a decision dated 06.06.2023, sentenced him to 7 years in prison for the criminal offenses of "Criminal Organization" and "Drug Trafficking", according to the Italian Criminal Code.
"Interpol Tirana and Interpol Rome will carry out the procedures for the extradition of this citizen to Italy," the police announced.
