The operative Erjon Goxhara, who two days ago wounded Lorenc Kosta with a firearm, has put an end to his escape.
After continuous negotiations, he has been handed over to his colleagues. It is learned that around 17:00 he presented himself at the Police Directorate in Tirana, together with the service weapon.
" Following the information given on 19.08.2024, about the event that happened near a market on "Tish Daija" street, today, around 17:00, he surrendered to the Local Police Directorate of Tirana, together with the weapon of the service with which he committed the criminal offense, citizen Erjon Goxhara, 46 years old.
The procedural materials were referred to the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of Tirana General Jurisdiction, for further actions , the police announced.
The event took place in the Municipality of Paris. Goxhara had discovered that his wife had an intimate relationship with a colleague of hers at ERE, more specifically with 45-year-old Lorenc Kosta. The couple had had strong clashes in recent weeks, as Goxhara then decided to take revenge.
Before wounding the ERE engineer with 6 bullets, the officer Erjon Goxhara had a meeting with his wife and grandson, LB.
In the investigative material of the Tirana Police, it is evident that the meeting took place on the morning of August 19, while around lunchtime the officer injured 45-year-old Lorenc Kosta.
During this meeting, it is stated in the file that the woman accepted the betrayal, but did not accept to apologize to the officer Goxhara. According to her, the betrayal happened only once. The same day, Goxhara, after finishing this conversation, moved near the neighborhood where he lived, and injured Lorenc Kosta in the area of the Commune of Paris.
The prosecution refers that the officer kept his target under observation and until this stage of the investigation, there are doubts that he did not intend to kill him. After the injury, the officer calls the boy and meets him at the Shkoza roundabout. Both took a taxi and went towards Fresco. According to the boy's testimony, they got out of the taxi when they arrived at the State Treasury in Dajt and there two civilian policemen saw Kosta, but he managed to run away saying "I'd rather die than rot in a group".
" At around 14:35, my father called me and told me that he had injured Lorenci with a gun. I asked him indignantly why he did it. After this phone call, he picked me up again and told me to go to the Shkoza district, as we were going to the Fresk area. I have come out to the place where he told me to wait. After dad came to the Shkoza district on foot, we took a taxi and headed to the Fresk area. As soon as we arrived at the State Treasury area, we both got off the taxi and he told the taxi driver to wait and he told me to follow him. Immediately at this moment, as soon as we got off, 2 police officers in civilian clothes approached us and called my father by name, and as soon as he saw them, he ran away between the buildings, telling these people that I would rather kill myself than rot in prison ", said the boy.
Goxhara was previously the commander of the Shqiponja department, while recently he works in the Border and Migration Directorate in Tirana, a position he lost after immediately after his injury, Chief Police Officer Vocaj announced his departure from the ranks of the blue uniforms. The officer is accused of committing the criminal offenses of "Premeditated murder", pending trial and "Illegal possession and production of weapons, explosive weapons and ammunition".
