English police have discovered a 'barn house' in Wales, which has led to the arrest of three Albanians.
Njazi Gjana, 27, and Ervin Gjana, 24, were both sentenced to two years and six months in prison, while 29-year-old Armeld Troski was sentenced to three years and four months for this offense.
Dyfed-Powys Police conducted a search of a building previously used as a primary school on November 15, 2024 following reports from the public of suspicious activity there.
Upon entering the property, officers were clear that this was a large-scale and sophisticated structure that had been deliberately modified to accommodate and conceal the cannabis farm.
While inspecting the property and the large quantities of cannabis on its three floors, officers heard sounds of movement coming from the lower floor, indicating that there were other people present in the building.
Officers moved swiftly to locate and arrest two individuals, Njazi and Armid, while a third individual, now known as Ervin Gjana, escaped from the property – climbing over a wire fence and heading towards nearby fields.
Through the use of a drone and a physical search by officers, Gjana was found wet and with thorny scratches on his arms on a roadside and was quickly arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis.
Following their arrest, the three men were charged with manufacturing a class B drug and pleaded guilty to the offence when they appeared at Swansea Crown Court on Friday, December 20, 2024.
Detective Constable Ben Nicholls said: “I would like to thank the Llandysul community for their vigilance and proactivity in reporting suspicious activity to the police.
“The information we receive from community members helps us build a picture of illegal activity that allows us to execute orders such as this to ensure that our area remains hostile to those who deal drugs.
"Monday's sentencing serves as a reminder of our commitment to removing and preventing harmful substances from harming our communities, and we thank the public for the crucial role they play in this work."
