The GJKKO has sentenced Altin Hajri to life imprisonment, for whom SPAK had also requested life imprisonment in prison.

Altin Hajri is accused of the kidnapping and disappearance of Jan Prenga. Earlier, the GJKKO also sentenced Festim Bixhdili, the gardener of the 'Golden' complex where it is suspected that he was tortured to death and then Prenga's body disappeared, to life imprisonment.

Hajri was sentenced in absentia to life imprisonment, although during the trial, his lawyers claimed that he had no connection to the incident and was unaware of Prenga's disappearance.

Hajri has been on the run since June 2017, when he was sentenced in absentia to 7 years in prison by the Court of First Instance in Durrës for attempted murder and illegal possession of weapons.

Jan Prenga was kidnapped at noon on January 17, 2020 near his apartment, on 'London' Street in Kamëz. Several people forcibly took him and put him in a vehicle, while 11 days of intensive investigations led the police to the complex owned by Altin Hajri.

For the kidnapping, the police arrested 4 people: Olsi Turja, Bajram, Elton and Leonard Hajri, all from Shijak.

According to SPAK, Prenga's kidnapping came due to the theft of a quantity of cocaine that arrived from Ecuador in the British port of Portsmouth.

It is suspected that Prenga lost her life due to violence in the vehicle that was used to kidnap her, which, according to SPAK footage, was stationed in the complex owned by Hajri.

But his dead body has not yet been found.

Altin Hajri's name became known during the 2015 Enigma operation, where 16 people were arrested, 450 kilograms of processed drugs and hundreds of kilograms of marijuana and cocaine were seized.

He was also accused by the Guardia di Financa of Venice of being one of the leaders of a criminal organization that transported heroin from Afghanistan to Italy. Italian authorities placed his name on the list of wanted persons, but after a few months the investigation against him was dropped.

Dritan Rexhepi has also been accused of the kidnapping and disappearance of Jan Prenga, although he refused to speak during a court hearing.

"At the end of 2019, I was outside Albania. I was in prison in Ecuador, sentenced to 13 years for drug trafficking. How could I have been the one who ordered an event that happened when I was in a prison on another continent?", Rexhepi declared at the beginning of his testimony.

He denied knowing Altin Hajri and Gentian Funiq, persons whom the Special Prosecution considers to be his accomplices in the kidnapping and execution of Jan Prenga.

"I've only heard of Gentian Funiq in the media. The name means nothing to me. I've never had any contact with him. I don't even know Altin Hajri. I've never heard of Martin Bleta, nor Korado Geshtenja."

Rexhepi claimed that he first learned about the incident from his relatives.
