A 39-year-old man was arrested this morning in Rinas, while attempting to smuggle a suitcase full of drugs into Albania. It is learned that Dhimitër Shehu, from Tepelena, had hidden 19.4 kg of cannabis with a high THC percentage in his suitcase.
Meanwhile, a photo of the young man Dhimitër Shehu has been published. The 39-year-old came from Thailand and intended to sell drugs in our country. The police have seized narcotics worth 388 thousand euros.
The operation to capture the 39-year-old was codenamed 'Package 6', while investigations continue into whether there are other people involved in this case.
"Following the successive operations conducted by the Tirana Police, with the objective of cracking down on cases of trafficking in the narcotic substance Cannabis Sativa with a high percentage of THC, for sale in Albania, another case of attempted importation of the narcotic substance with a high percentage of THC has been cracked down on.
Following information provided by the Narcotics Investigation Directorate of the Criminal Police Department of the State Police and the registration of the criminal proceeding at the Tirana Prosecution Office, the Narcotics Investigation Section of the Tirana DVP, in cooperation with the Rinas Police Commissariat, and under the direction of the Tirana Prosecution Office, within the framework of this proactive proceeding, finalized the anti-drug police operation codenamed "Package 6".
During the operation, citizen Dh. Sh., 39 years old, resident of the village of Kras, Tepelena, was arrested in flagrante delicto.
The 39-year-old, who was traveling from Thailand to Albania, had with him a suitcase containing 19 kg and 400 g of the narcotic Cannabis Sativa with a high percentage of THC, which was seized as material evidence.
"In-depth investigations are ongoing to identify and bring to criminal responsibility other citizens who may have been implicated in this case," the police announced.
