A 39-year-old man wanted and accused of attempted murder in Korça was extradited from Greece on behalf of Interpol Tirana today.

According to the police, the extradited person is Deni Meçolli. There was a security measure against him in the absence of "prison arrest".

Meçolli is accused of having attempted to kill Ergyst Shtylla, 40, for weak motives on February 4, 2025, in neighborhood no. 2, Korça, by stabbing him in the chest. After the crime, he fled to a neighboring country, where he hid until he was handcuffed.

The pillar suffered three stab wounds to the body and gave evidence after the threat to his life had passed. He told officers, among other things, that the incident had occurred after an argument over the sale of a car.

Greece announced Meçolli's arrest on July 15 of this year and initiated extradition procedures.

"As a result of close cooperation between the structures of Interpol Tirana and Interpol Athens, the procedure for the extradition from Greece to Albania of the citizen:  DM, 39 years old, resident of Korça, was finalized.

This citizen was declared an international wanted person, because in February 2025, the Korça Court assigned him the security measure "Arrest in prison", for the criminal offense of "Intentional Murder".

Citizen DM is accused of having attempted to kill, for weak motives, citizen E. Sh., 40 years old, on 04.02.2025, in neighborhood no. 2, Korça, by stabbing him in the chest.

"Specialists from the Serious Crimes Investigation Sector of the Korça Police Department are carrying out the procedural actions for the execution of the criminal decision," the police announced.
