Puka's story in Britain began on February 17, 2015, when he was arrested for burglarizing a flat in Twickenham while the owner was on holiday abroad and saw the incident on security cameras. He was sentenced to nine months in prison and agreed to leave the country upon his release.

"The Telegraph" writes that However, within a year, he managed to return to Britain by avoiding border controls. According to authorities, he was involved in a series of thefts in the suburbs of London, until he was arrested by civilian officers in Surbiton. At the time of his arrest, he was wearing an expensive watch that was suspected to have been stolen. Puka was sentenced to three and a half years in prison and deported in March 2020.

Return and asylum application

After returning to Albania, he traveled to Germany, Belgium, and the Netherlands, before re-entering the United Kingdom in December 2020. Facing another risk of deportation, he applied for asylum.

Since 2023, Puka has been under immigration surveillance and wearing an electronic device, while awaiting the court's final decision on his request.

During his time in prison, he attracted attention after using a smuggled phone to post photos on Instagram, including images with other convicted organized crime figures.

The reaction of the authorities

The British Home Office has said it cannot currently deport him until his asylum application is considered. A spokesman said the government was undertaking reforms to strengthen the system and increase deportations of foreign criminals, warning that such cases would be dealt with more severely in the future.

Meanwhile, Puka's case has sparked debate in Britain over the asylum system and deportation procedures for people with criminal records.
