The State Police Appeals Commission has changed the disciplinary measures imposed by the Professional Standards Directorate against several former leaders of the Lezha Police.
At the meeting held this Tuesday, the commission reviewed around 25 complaints filed by various police officers against whom disciplinary measures had been taken.
Former Deputy Director for Order at the Lezha Police, Taulant Gjoka, and former Chief of Police Oltion Gjoni have been reinstated after being suspended for criminal offenses such as organizing gambling and drug cultivation.
For the former director of the Lezha Police, Altin Mena, the promotion deadline has been postponed for 3 months, overturning the initial decision that envisaged a demotion for 5 years.
There was also a change in the decision for the deputy director for order, Taulant Gjoka. The commission decided to postpone his promotion for 6 months, while the initial measure had been his expulsion from the State Police.
Likewise, the initial decision to dismiss the head of the Lezha Police Station, Oltion Gjoni, was overturned. The Appeals Commission decided to postpone his promotion deadline for 1 year.
A change of rank has also been decided for the deputy director of the Fier Police, Oliger Torba. The commission overturned the first decision to demote him, leaving only a warning in effect.

This is another blow to Proda and comes a few days after one of his 'loyalists', Ulian Shpataraku, who was an Assistant in the Department of Information Technology at the State Police, was dismissed.
The decision to suspend him from duty was taken for blatant non-implementation of legal provisions in the fulfillment of functional duties.
It is learned that Shpataraku is currently pursuing his master's degree at the Security Academy, but it is suspected that, under the pretext of continuing his studies, he did not show up for work regularly.
Shpataraku was one of Ilir Proda's loyalists and it seems he was at his ease as long as his friend was at the top of the order.
