The trail of the murder of businessman Bujar Nasufi is being revealed day by day, and the names that come to light are not unknown to the dark world of crime. The brothers Voltan and Jugert Xhani, arrested as part of the "Enigma" operation in Durrës, are suspected of being the organizers and financiers of the January 12, 2025 assassination attempt near the Palace of Arrows in Tirana.
It is learned that at the place where the perpetrator abandoned the motorcycle after the murder, a partially burned glove was found, inside which a DNA profile was isolated. This DNA is expected to be compared with that of the two brothers, and with the sample that will be taken from their mother, a proof that could seal the guilt.
The plot of a property dispute between the Xhani and Nasuf families appears to be the main motive for the assassination. The brothers' father is suspected of having sold a property that became a bone of contention. The clashes were fierce and continuous, and are now believed to have degenerated into bloodshed.
But this is not the first time that Voltan Xhani has been mentioned in mafia assassinations. He was previously wanted for the murder of Elis Rroshkodoli in Shkodër, where the car used in the execution was found in his garage. He is accused of creating the conditions to commit murder and trafficking in motor vehicles. The prosecution suspects that the clash between the Xhanis and Rroshkodoli was related to the drug trade. We recall that the capture of the brothers in Durrës came after a several-month escape.
