An Albanian and an Italian citizen have been arrested by the police after they were caught disembarking from the port of Olbia, Italy with over 11.5 kg of cocaine.
If it were to be launched on the market, the drug could bring a profit of 2 million euros. The narcotic substance was packed in 10 packages, each weighing almost 1 kg. Inside the packages were white paste which was later found to be drugs.
Cocaine was found in one of the two cars in which the two citizens were traveling hidden in two spaces created, to the right and to the left of the trunk. The packages were perfectly sealed to avoid dog sniffing.
The operation was coordinated by the Prosecutor's Office of Tempio Pausania.
"This case raises a great social alarm and shows that the cocaine distribution market has clear links to the territory of Gallura (region in the northeast of Sardinia) where there are three ports (Olbia, Golfo Aranci and Santa Teresa Gallura) and two airports ( for commercial and private flights, both in Olbia) and involves powerful economic interests" , explains the Guardia di Financa writes "Ansa".
