The Tirana court has left Andrew Boden in prison accused of murdering businessman Edmond Papa on December 16, 2022.
Bode appeared in court today, appearing to avoid the media and hiding behind the wall of the glass cage. In the trial, he denied having a hand in the murder of businessman Papa.
" I will bring witnesses who have nothing to do with the murder of Edmond Papa! I did not surrender, I did not trust the police! I will report them" - said Bode in court.
Edwin alias Andrew Bode was captured at Memaliaj on August 28th.
The 45-year-old wanted man was hiding in the apartment of Julian Kalemi, who was also arrested by the police.
While during the operation, the operatives found weapons in the house of Julian Kalemi's relative, Andrea alias Adriatik Kalemi, who kept 1 automatic firearm, 1 shotgun, 1 cartridge necklace, combat cartridges, 2 silencers, 1 bulletproof vest, 40 145 euro, 438 550 new lek and 3470 dollars.
Meanwhile, for Edvin alias Andrew Bode, the Court of First Instance of Tirana General Jurisdiction has set the security measure "Arrest in prison", for the criminal offenses "Murder with premeditation", carried out in cooperation, and "Possession without permission and production of weapons, explosive weapons and ammunition".
In 2022, Andrew Bode, in collaboration with two others, allegedly executed Edmond Pope. A few days after the event, one of the perpetrators, 30-year-old Alban Velo, was arrested, while Andrew Bode escaped. The victim, owner of a bar in Saranda and with previous criminal records, was wounded several times with a firearm while visiting a coffee bar in the Selita area.
He was taken to the Trauma Hospital, but could not escape his injuries and died.
The breakdown of drug deals is suspected to be behind the murder of Edmond Pope. His execution came as a response to a mafia elimination that was done to one of his opponents during this summer in Tirana.
Although with a low profile, the 49-year-old is suspected of being involved in drug trafficking from Turkey to Albania and from Albania to England.
Also, there are suspicions that he was involved in money laundering. The verifications showed that Edmond Papa lived in Albania mainly during the summer between Saranda and Fier, but he often traveled abroad.
