Murder of Greek owner and Albanian worker, perpetrator caught on security

New details have come to light in the case of the double murder in Finikounda on October 5th in Greece, of the Greek owner of the campsite and his Albanian worker who left him half of the estate, as it appears that some of the claims of one of the two 22-year-olds arrested in connection with the case are being dismissed.

Investigative and police authorities have been investigating from the beginning the path that the 22-year-old followed after the murder at the campsite, while he himself claimed in his testimony that he escaped by swimming to Kalamata, but left many "black spots" of his escape unclear and suspicious alibis.

He first returned by swimming and then walking to Kalamata.

"I can swim for hours, I go snorkeling, and I also served in the Special Forces," he said, among other things, about the officers.

But in the video released by ERT television, the 22-year-old is seen walking outside the bus station in Kalamata on the afternoon of October 6 (the day after the murder), wearing different clothes from those worn on the night of the crime. The footage was captured by security cameras.

The investigating judge and prosecutor decided to temporarily detain the two 22-year-olds after a marathon process lasting approximately 16 hours, which began at noon on Sunday and ended at 4 a.m. on Monday.

During their statements, the two young men, the 22-year-old Greek-British suspected shooter and his friend who voluntarily surrendered, presented their claims regarding their participation in the crime, with one blaming the other for entering the scene on the fateful night.

The defense of the 22-year-old Greek-British man accused of the double murder at the Finikounda campsite has ended after six hours. According to his lawyer, the young man insisted on his initial claim that he was not the physical perpetrator and claimed that “the co-defendant is the one who entered the crime scene.”

The 22-year-old co-defendant took his turn in the investigating officer's office, whose defense began before 8:00 in the evening.

The Greek-British lawyer, Dimitris Gavelas, stated that his client's defense "was a marathon" and "there was a penetrating look from the investigating officer, I must admit. My client tried to report the facts as he experienced them himself at every stage of this process. The interrogation still has a lot to do."

According to Gavelas, the 22-year-old “stands by what he has stood by from the beginning, that he is not the natural perpetrator of this serial murder.”
“My client claims that the co-defendant is the one who entered the crime scene,” the lawyer added.

When asked what the 22-year-old claims regarding the fact that he was identified by the only eyewitness to the crime, Gavelas replied:

"What explanation can be given when the alleged identification is incorrect? My colleagues and I have carefully reviewed the sworn statement of this alleged or real eyewitness and it is full of inaccuracies. He did not bring a gun, he did not shoot himself with it. He was out on a motorcycle," he asserted.

The 22-year-old claims he was in Finikounda “because we helped the perpetrator of an act of extortion”. That is his claim. However, it turns out that he did not bring the guitar himself.”

The lawyer says his client did not know the two victims and that he had never been to Finikounda before.
