The Prosecutor's Office of Tirana has requested a sentence of 35 years in prison for Ludjan Zaimi, who killed his colleague inside the police station.
The event happened on the evening of May 23, 2022. The 25-year-old, after some arguments with his colleague Çaush Saliasi, shot the latter with at least seven bullets.
The defense also presented arguments regarding the treatment of their client with medication as he suffered from mental health disorders, but this was of no value.
The prosecution accuses the former police officer of "killing a police officer", while the defense has claimed that the killing did not happen because of duty, but because of personal relations between two colleagues.
It was previously reported that Zaimi planned the murder of his colleague who served for more than 20 years in the ranks of the State Police. For a long time he complained about going to the service with him, he said that Saliasi bullied him, insulted him, called him "blind" and did not even spare his family members. But all these complaints had fallen on deaf ears. The situation had continued like this until May 23, the day when the briefing was taking place. The serious images that were published in the media showed how Saliasi left the hall sitting on the stairs near the door of the police station. After him, 25-year-old Zaimi came out. After a few seconds, the young man pulls out his gun and starts shooting non-stop at the 55-year-old. Despite the fact that the latter tried to defend himself, he could not succeed.
