A fire broke out this afternoon in an apartment in the "18 Shtatori" neighborhood in Gjirokastra. The cause of the fire is suspected to have been a defect in the air conditioner. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, while the damage was only material.
For safety reasons, electricity in the area has been temporarily cut off, while firefighters have quickly intervened to bring the situation under control.
"Gjirokastër/Preliminary information/ On the third floor of a building in the "18 Shtatori" neighborhood, a fire broke out in the apartment of citizen RK, suspected to be due to an electrical spark. Police forces have gone to the scene and are evacuating the residents of the building.
"Firefighters are working to extinguish the fire. So far, no citizens have been injured or have problems from smoke. The investigation team is working to fully clarify the circumstances and legally document the case ," the police announced.
