Sophia Loren has no plans to retire from Hollywood even at the age of 90. With a legendary lifetime body of work on display at the Los Angeles Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in November, the popular Italian actress made it clear that legacy is the last thing on her mind.
"I don't want to think about legacy," Loren, 90, told Deadline. "I want to think about my next film. I'll think about the legacy once I retire, and I hope I never retire."
For almost 75 years, Loren has starred on the screen in various roles. In 1962, she won the Oscar for Best Actress for her performance in the film Two Women.
Most recently, she starred in the 2020 Oscar-nominated film The Life Ahead.
When asked to share her secret of acting in so many different genres over several generations, Loren, who spends most of her time at home in Geneva, explained her theory.
"The secret is to never have a plan B, so that when you're faced with an obstacle that seems insurmountable, you don't end up taking the easy way out," she said. “You take a deep breath, go ahead and find the right solution to your problem as you have no choice but to move forward. No plan B, only a plan A.”
