The well-known painter Ali Oseku, one of the most emblematic artists of Albanian art in the last 50 years, has passed away.
Oseku could not win the battle with the fallen disease.
Ali Oseku (1944) was born in Tirana, in a family originating from Gjakova. He finished the artistic high school in 1963, and the High Institute of Arts in 1969. After his studies, the artist started working as a set designer at TOB. In 1973, in the wave of state punishments in the field of art and culture, the artist was sentenced to prison until 1979.
After this period, the artist works as a simple worker, until the collapse of the system. After the 90s, he would be one of the most active voices of the local artistic scene.
