Famous Bosnian singer who performed over 500 charity concerts for war victims

Renowned Bosnian singer Halid Beslic has died at the age of 71. He reportedly had serious liver problems and spent the last few weeks at the University of Sarajevo Clinical Center, where he was initially treated in the Department of Nephrology and then in the Oncology Department. Despite his manager's statement in September that his condition was improving, the singer failed to recover.

Before his death, Halidi published a poem dedicated to his wife, Sejda, whom he considered his greatest support. Born on November 20, 1953 in the village of Vrapci, he grew up in modest circumstances, but his love for music led him to an extraordinary career.

After military service, he moved to Sarajevo, where he began performing and later became one of the most well-known names on the Yugoslav music scene.

With songs like “Necu, necu dijamant”, “Budi budi uvijek srecna” and “Miljacka”, Beslic became a symbol of the region’s folk music. During the Bosnian war, he held over 500 charity concerts for war victims. In 2009, he suffered a serious road accident in which he lost an eye, but quickly returned to the stage with strength and dedication.
