The recount of votes for the Tirana Region begins today, while the process will then continue with the ballot boxes in Fier and Durrës. In the latter, only 360 ballot boxes will be recounted.
Yesterday, the Central Election Commission completed the recount of votes for 94 polling stations in the Elbasan district, which belong to Peqin and Gramsh. The decisions to open the ballot boxes came after successive requests from the opposition, which does not recognize the May 11 elections. The opposition has raised allegations that the 'Bulgarian train' was applied on May 11, distorting the will of the voters.
The verification of the boxes in the Elbasan District revealed several problems, where in 15 cases, the ballots had one stamp and not two. It was also noted that some boxes were missing unused ballots, and it turned out that in some cases people whose names were not on the voter list voted.
The vote count in Tirana and Fier, the two largest districts, is awaited with interest, where there are suspicions of vote trafficking not only between political entities, but also between candidates within the same entity.
