DP MP Ferdinand Xhaferaj, who did not run in the May 11 elections, commented on the outcome of the process, where the opposition led by Sali Berisha recorded another defeat.
On the show "The Unexposed", Xhaferaj blamed the leader of the DP, Sali Berisha, for not aiming for victory, but for maintaining the party for his personal interests. He also focused on the $6 million lobbying contract, which he said serves himself, Berisha, and not the Democrats.
"Berisha came to this campaign to consolidate a parliamentary group to serve his personal agenda. He won against Basha but lost against Rama. Then arguments were created that Berisha mobilizes the militants, but not the rest of the DP and the gray electorate.
For a political leader, there must be an agenda on how to reach the gray electorate. Berisha had the responsibility to build a broad opposition coalition, to go to Shehaj and Lapaj, then turn to Flamur, Albana, and so on and come out with an open list. He did not do it because he did not have a mission to win. The DP list is the 2013 list, it did not include the other flows that the DP has produced.
The list should have been 20% with the 2013 elite and 80% with new politicians. He didn't do it because he didn't have the objective and mission of returning the DP to power but a loyal parliamentary group. He put a cap on the 6 million dollar contract and then others, which follow Sali Berisha's personal troubles.
We are dealing with the most important decision-making of the DP, which does not respond to the demands for political rotation but only to the demands of Berisha. We have produced a parliamentary group that risks being irrelevant.
"Rama does not need to build a consensus with the DP. The parliamentary group will only serve Bersha's personal problems. I am sorry to say this, for the cooperation I had with Berisha, I want to remove the non-grata, but the problem and bad luck of the Democrats is that Berisha's problems push them against the problems that Albanians and Democrats have. It is a party that has capacities but is forced to stay outside the institutions," said Xhaferraj.
