The sixth summit of the European Political Community will be held in Tirana, where 47 leaders of states and governments from across Europe will participate, including European Union countries, the Western Balkans, as well as other countries on the continent.
Tirana is hosting the sixth Summit of the European Political Community, an event taking place for the first time in a Western Balkan country. The Summit will be held at Skanderbeg Square, and will be attended by leaders of 47 European countries, along with heads of the highest international institutions.
Among them will be British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who arrived the day before as part of an official visit, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, French President Emmanuel Macron, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, NATO head Mark Rutte, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Prime Minister Edi Rama will start the day with a series of bilateral meetings that precede the summit proceedings. He will first meet with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, and then with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez. In total, Rama is expected to hold 10 meetings with various European counterparts, including Italian Prime Minister Meloni, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, and Turkish President Erdogan.
The summit will be co-chaired by Prime Minister Rama and the President of the European Council, Antonio Costa. The theme of the summit is: “A New Europe in a New World: Unity, Cooperation, Joint Action”, while discussions will focus on three roundtables that will address issues of security, economic competitiveness and youth empowerment, in the face of challenges such as the war in Ukraine, European defense and technological transformation.
The summit proceedings will conclude with a joint press conference between Prime Minister Rama and his counterpart from Denmark, Mette Frederiksen, the country where the next summit will be held.
The summit discussions will be structured into thematic high-level tables:
The first roundtable will focus on European security and democratic sustainability, addressing important issues such as supporting Ukraine in achieving a just and lasting peace, as well as long-term challenges such as protecting democratic institutions from foreign interference and strengthening common European defense capabilities.
The second roundtable will address strengthening competitiveness and economic security, with a focus on innovation, digital infrastructure, energy sustainability, and strategic autonomy to protect critical supply chains and balance climate objectives with industrial strength.

Kërcënimet hibride, vështirësitë ekonomike dhe fragmentimi teknologjik po vënë në provë qëndrueshmërinë demokratike dhe nënvizojnë nevojën urgjente për një përgjigje më të koordinuar dhe të bashkuar evropiane.
